Payment schedule
How it works
- Interest Each month’s interest is the remaining balance times the annual rate divided by 12.
- Equal payments Every payment is the same amount. The last one may differ slightly.
- Equal principal You repay the same part of the loan each month plus interest, so payments go down.
- Fees Fees are not included. This is not an effective APR.
Questions
All questionsWhat is the difference between equal payments and equal principal?
With equal payments, every monthly payment is the same amount. With equal principal, you repay the same part of the loan each month plus interest, so payments start higher and go down. Equal principal usually costs less interest in total.
Does the calculator send my debts to a server?
Calculations run in your browser. Calculator inputs are not sent to analytics. The QR code on a printed plan and older shared-plan links contain the plan’s numbers and debt names in the URL. Anyone with that link can read them.
Are payoff dates guaranteed?
No. Estimates assume fixed annual rates, monthly interest and payments made as planned. Fees, daily interest, changing rates and lender-specific rules are not included.
Can I import a web plan into the app?
Not currently. The App Store and Google Play links open the app listing. They do not transfer your balances or schedule. Enter your debts in the app to track them.
