Privacy Policy for Debt Tracker (Android)
This privacy policy explains how the Debt Tracker app for Android ("the app"), published on Google Play by Linas Nutautas under the name linasdev ("we", "us"), handles your data. It applies only to the Android app. Our website and our iPhone apps have their own privacy policies.
Summary
- The app has no accounts and shows no ads.
- Your debts, payments, notes and settings are stored only on your phone. We have no server that receives them.
- The only data that leaves your phone is what our purchase service, RevenueCat, needs for Premium: your purchase history and how you interact with the Premium screen.
- We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers or use it to track you across other apps.
Who is responsible
Linas Nutautas (linasdev), an independent developer based in Norway, is the data controller for the app. For any privacy question or request, email info@linasdev.io.
Data stored on your phone
The app stores the records you enter: debts and their balances, rates, fees and dates, payments and payment history, categories, notes, reminder settings and app preferences. It keeps them in its private storage on your phone, which Android protects from other apps.
We never receive these records. The app turns off Android's automatic cloud backup and device-to-device transfer for its data, so the app does not copy your records to Google's servers. Forecasts, payoff strategies, statistics and the loan calculator are all calculated on your phone.
Purchases and Premium
Lifetime Premium is a one-time purchase made through Google Play. Google processes the payment under the Google Privacy Policy. We do not receive your payment card details. Google may give us limited order information, such as the order number, product, price, currency, date and country, so that we can manage purchases and refunds.
We use RevenueCat, Inc. to check your purchases and unlock Premium. The app contacts RevenueCat when it starts and when you open Premium, to check whether Premium is active, even if you never buy anything. The app sends RevenueCat:
- Purchase history: the products you bought, purchase dates and tokens, prices and currency, and whether a purchase was refunded.
- An anonymous app user ID: a random identifier that RevenueCat creates for this installation of the app. It is not linked to your name, email address or Google account.
- Interactions with the Premium screen: when the Premium screen opens or closes and which purchase options you tap. RevenueCat uses these events to show us how the Premium offer performs.
- Basic technical information: such as the app version, the Android version, your device language and the store country.
RevenueCat never receives your debts, payments or notes. The app is set up so that RevenueCat does not collect advertising IDs or other device identifiers. RevenueCat stores data in the United States. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
We use your purchase history to provide, check and restore Premium, which is necessary to fulfil your purchase. We use sales figures and the Premium screen events in RevenueCat's reports to understand and improve our offer, which is our legitimate interest. You can object to this use by emailing us.
Reminders and notifications
Payment reminders are optional. They are scheduled on your phone and do not use any server. On Android 13 and later, Android asks for your permission before the app can show notifications, and you can turn them off at any time.
By default, reminders show a general message without the debt's name. If you turn on "Show debt names", the reminder includes the debt's name, and your Android lock-screen settings decide whether that name is visible on a locked screen. Reminders never show amounts.
Backups and PDF reports
The app creates backups and PDF reports only when you ask for them.
- Backups are encrypted on your phone with a password you choose before they are saved. We cannot open your backups or recover a forgotten password.
- PDF reports contain your debts and payment history, so treat them like other financial documents. The app keeps generated reports in temporary storage on your phone and removes copies older than seven days. Android may also clear this storage at any time.
- You choose where files go. You pick the location with Android's file picker or share menu. If you save a file to a cloud service, such as Google Drive, or share it with another app, that service's privacy policy applies to the copy.
Permissions
The app asks only for these permissions:
- Notifications: to show payment reminders, if you turn them on.
- Run at startup: to keep reminders scheduled after your phone restarts.
- Internet and network status: for purchases through Google Play and RevenueCat.
- Google Play billing: to make the Premium purchase.
The app does not request your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photos, and it does not use the advertising ID.
What we do not do
- We do not show ads.
- We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services in the app.
- We do not sell your data or share it with data brokers.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Sharing
We share data only with RevenueCat, which works for us as a service provider, and with Google, which processes the payment as Google Play. We may also disclose data if the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting your data
- Records on your phone stay there until you delete them in the app or uninstall the app. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes all of its data from your phone. Create a backup first if you want to restore your records later.
- Purchase data at RevenueCat is kept as long as it is needed to provide Premium and to meet legal obligations. To have it deleted, email info@linasdev.io and include the Google Play order number from your receipt email, so we can find your record. Deleting this data does not remove your Premium. If you later tap "Restore purchases", Google Play sends your purchase to RevenueCat again.
Security
Data sent to Google Play and RevenueCat is encrypted in transit. On your phone, Android keeps the app's storage separate from other apps, and backups are encrypted with your password. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Protect your phone with a screen lock and keep backup passwords safe.
Children
The app is intended for adults (18 and over) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, for example in the EEA or the UK, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its use, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Most of your data stays on your phone, under your control. For data held by RevenueCat, email info@linasdev.io. We answer within one month.
You can also complain to a data protection authority. In Norway this is Datatilsynet (www.datatilsynet.no); you can also contact the authority where you live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes on Google Play.
